Although the 22 000-ha Tussen die Riviere Game Reserve was developed to cater for the South African hunter, three valuable nature trails have been laid out for hikers visiting the reserve during the summer (non-hunting season). Although relatively unknown, each of these trails has exciting attributes and is well worth walking.
Rietpoort is a Merino sheep-farm situated 11km from the town of Trompsburg (120km south of Bloemfontein) on the N1 to Cape Town. This Southern Free-State farm is also a game farm, and home to Springbuck, Blesbuck, Black Wildebeest and Gemsbuck; all of which can be viewed. Your hostess, Isabel, is also a breeder of Marmoset and Cotton Top Monkeys.
