The Free State's largest nature reserve is a combination of the 36 487 ha Gariep Dam on the Orange River and an 11 237 ha game sanctuary on its northern shore.

Your hostess, Isabel, is also a breeder of Marmoset and Cotton Top Monkeys.
The perfect stopover between Gauteng and Cape Town, 190km south of Bloemfontein, situated on the banks of South Africa's largest dam, the Gariep Dam, bordering the Gariep Nature Reserve. Tour the dam wall with 13km tunnels, view springbok and Cape mountain zebra in the neighbouring reserve and enjoy an extensive range of water sport.
Although the 22 000-ha Tussen die Riviere Game Reserve was developed to cater for the South African hunter, three valuable nature trails have been laid out for hikers visiting the reserve during the summer (non-hunting season). Although relatively unknown, each of these trails has exciting attributes and is well worth walking.
